With her long dramatic lashes, cropped pixie cut, and slender frame Twiggy is the epitome of the swinging sixties. Lesley Lawson (Twiggy’s birth name) had modest beginnings as the daughter of factory worker and master carpenter. She began modelling in 1965 and by 1967 she had modeled internationally and achieved major fame.
Her modelling career lasted only a short five years before she retired to dip her feet in other endeavors. Though not the longest career, it is one of the most memorable. Twiggy is considered to be one the of the first international supermodels and will always be a fashion icon.
