International Women’s Day: Thank You!

If you ask me, there has never been a more beautiful time to be a woman. Not because we don’t have a long way to go, but because we are for what feels like the first time being truly heard. Between #TimesUp and the many ways women are breaking the glass ceiling I feel so encouraged. Even without these amazing things happening I would still feel so uplifted because I am blessed to have amazing role models in my life.

To my friend who has fought adversity in her life and came out unscathed – you inspire me. To my friend who had the courage to follow her heart and move across the country to start a new life – I love your bravery. To my friend who has looked at health issues as a bump in the road and not the end of the world – I could only hope to be as strong and resilient as you. To my friend who is always getting another degree under her belt – I love that you never want to quit elevating yourself. To my friend who is always adding a new title to her ever growing resume – you’re a boss and #goals.

Lastly to my mother and sister – you are the greatest inspiration in my life. You both never stop amazing me. My mother came to this country at 17 years old and built the most beautiful life. From family to career to love she truly has it all, but is always seeking to do more. My sister manages to have the most insane physical therapy school schedule, work, personal training and somehow have a better social life than anyone else. I don’t know anyone who works harder than them. I don’t know anyone more loving and compassionate than them. Without them I am not whole. I literally want to be equal parts Jackie (my mom) and Amanda (my sister) when I grow up.

I love my amazing friends and family because they motivate me by simply being themselves. Surround yourself with strong women who lift you up. It truly is all you need.
