How to Remove Makeup Without Wipes

There is nothing wrong with makeup wipes. They are a perfectly suitable way to remove your makeup. My thing is that it’s not like you get to skip the step of washing your face after. Maybe if you’re feeling lazy you can get away with just using one before bed, but eventually you’ll need to properly cleanse.

Personally, I would much rather skip the makeup wipe and go straight to the cleansing. I’ve noticed it yields the same results and leaves my skin feeling much softer. Here’s how I do it.

Step 1: Start with foaming cleanser

It’s important that whichever one you choose specifically states that it removes makeup. There are some that can remove your foundation, but it will be a disaster trying to remove eye makeup with them.

I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Gel. I love this cleanser because it is gentle on my skin, but still removes my eye makeup. I apply with warm water in a circular motion. I give special attention to my eyes as I wear eyeshadow everyday.

Pro tip: To remove stubborn mascara, go over your lashes with your pointer finger doing a windshield wiper motion (gently). You should feel the mascara coming off your lashes.

Step 2: Use a non-foaming cleanser + cleansing brush

Starting to use the Qyksonic Zoe Sonic Beauty Brush was a game changer for me. Sincethe brush is exfoliating, I use CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser so that my skin is left super soft and hydrated. This second cleanse takes care of any remaining makeup residue.

Step 3: Tone

I am not loyal to toner, but currently I am using Thayers Witch Hazel (Rose Petal).I saturate a cotton square and swipe all over my face. While the makeup will be gone there may still be a bit of dirt, etc. on my face so this last cleansing step helps get to my face to 100% clean.

Step 4: Seal in moisture

I finish with CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion. It is lightweight, but still super hydrating.
