While things are still far from being normal, there’s no denying that this spring/summer will offer us some of the things that we all have been missing. It’s time to dust off the post-quarantine looks you’ve been saving. Revenge heel season is upon us.
What exactly is revenge heel season? It’s time that we start going back to who we were before this pandemic. We’ll still need to take precautions, of course, but soon we’ll be able to do some of the things that we (definitely I) missed the most. Dressing up again. Wearing heels again. Living life again.
We spent most of the last year in sneakers, flats, or shoeless. Everyone leaned into comfortable looks because it was what we needed. Cozy clothes will still serve their purpose in our day-to-day lives, but we also will be shifting back to breaking out the heels more often. Here are the heel types that perfect for this exciting return to glam.
Note: You’ll notice that most of these categories intersect!
We haven’t worn heels in a real way in over a year. It will take some adjusting. A great way to transition is with a block heel. They’re easier to walk in and tend to offer more long-lasting comfort.
Mules have been trending for quite a few years now. This season the mules that are trending are a bit sleeker and sexier. They go perfectly with a pair of jeans or a dress.
A trend from the early aughts that I admittedly never thought would make a comeback but have come back with a huge splash is thong heels. These are great because they can elevate an otherwise casual look without looking too overdressed.
For example, you’re meeting your friends for brunch but are unsure of the dress code. These are a great in-between to a sky-high pair of heels.
These are not your 2010s platforms with the skinny heel. These are chunky 70s-inspired platforms that look like they are straight off the disco dance floor. Pair for these with a micro-mini dress or skirt or that midi-length piece that needs a boost.
Ps — short girls like me, rejoice!
Heels that are out of the ordinary are having a major moment. Think of unique heel shapes and designs. These eye-catching pieces will take any outfit to the next level.
Pastels & Bold Colors
Neutral heels are necessary and valid, but after you’ve checked those boxes turn your attention to colors. Pastels are trending in a big way, as are bold primary colors. The season’s colors on my list are baby blue, pastel yellow, lavender, orange, hot pink, and lime green.
Carrie Bradshaw, eat your heart out. Strappy heels are in this season in a big way (in every color and heel height). Don’t just get one pair of strappy heels; get many. They are for sure the “It” shoe of the summer.
