On March 13, 2020, Breonna Taylor was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police Department officers. Plainclothes officers entered her apartment with a no-knock warrant. Taylor was shot eight times after gun fire was exchanged between her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, and the LMPD officers.
The officers entered the home without announcing they were police officers. So, Walker was acting in self-defense as he believed someone was breaking into their home.
Their warrant centered around a drug case, but no drugs were found in the apartment. They were not at the right apartment. As of today, July 2, 2020, no charges have been filed against the officers. There has been no justice for Breonna Taylor.
